How to better understand the Bible? It is important to understand that the Bible is a Book of faith written for the faithful. Carnal man or carnal minds will never understand the Bible because the Bible is written to express spiritual truths in spiritual words. It is important to understand that the Bible does not require any secret knowledge to grasp its understanding. In fact, the message is quite simple – have faith in Christ! The Holy Spirit illumines the minds of believers to fully understand the Word of God. Paul says, “The man without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him, and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually discerned.” (I Cor. 2:14) Therefore, prayer should always precede reading the Bible. Reading the Bible will give you knowledge of the Bible (which will allow you to repeat what you know), but only a spirit-led, systematic study of the Word of God will give you an understanding of the Bible (which will allow you to not only repeat but also use in daily living).
